Smile BMW x5 3.0i 2002 (made 12/01) with 81504miles - WHAT SUGGESTED SERVICE I SHOULD DO?

I have BMW x5 3.0i 2002 with 81504 miles on it right now

it had paper in a glove box about service done at 55k miles

1)Inspection II
2)Whole front axle has been replaced
3)new battery
4)Alignment
5)Brake flush
6)Cooling system flush
7)Rear differential has been flushed

With 65k miles on it in April 2008(when I bought it) :

1)New rotors all the way around
2)New brake pads

At 70472 miles on it in September 2nd has been following service performed :
1)New throttle body replace
2)New engine wiring
3)New fron lower ball joints
4)New automatic transmission fluid + filter
5)New thermostat
6)New engine oil + filter
7)Cooling system has been flushed
8)Calipers have been repaired in front
9)Brake system flush
10)Alignment

3)At 75k has been wheel bushings has been replaced with updated parts

I own car since 65k and oil has been replaced with 5W-30 mobil one every 3k miles

What SERVICE should I do? I own car since 65k miles and have no idea about service done to car before that.

It looks like you have a comprehensive list of previous works performed on your car.

Do some research and have a good read of the X5world Home Page: http://www.xoutpost.com/

If you have a look at this; BMW Service Schedule: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...-schedule.html it will tell you that your next service will be an Inspection 1 and it should be done at 90,000 miles. Make sure you scroll to the bottom and see what happens at Inspection 1, Inspection 2 and the Oil Change Service.

Start making a list of minor (non urgent) faults that can be attended to during service, unless you can make good yourself. Only you will know if your X is running normal, I presume you know your car well.

Good luck.

Ok, in regards to your 'transmission jerkyness sometimes' have a look at this thread on rough downshifts: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ownshifts.html In particular post # 6 on resetting transmission. As per the post that may or may not help, please let us know of outcome.

Apart from resetting the transmission maybe hold out till 90k's but it wouldn't hurt to at least crawl under and check out your cv boots and make sure they aren't cracked and are nice and dry. Look for excessive grease around axel parts, inside of rims etc. Also take a look under the hood at the ends of all rubber hoses for deterioration, cracking etc.

On other potential issues, check out: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...-problems.html Read all of post # 1 and in particular post # 8 by 'primetime'. Very informative and probably what you need to see what can go wrong at around 80k miles. A little scary as I'm at the same distance travelled but as you say you want to prevent rather than repair plus to be forewarned is way better than not knowing at all.

Your questions are not stupid, good to see you've got the right mind set of being in front of what could go wrong. I know I keep saying read, read and read some more. Believe me that's one of the best things you can do right now. Don't be afraid to use the 'Search' feature at the top of each page, second row, it's everyone's friend.

Good luck

Darn right it's smooth. Rims are too big to fit in potholes, so he just cruises over them and doesn't feel a thing.

Me too.

I mean it's not as if Sobi hasn't maintained it thus far nor has it come with an unknown 'recent' background.

If the OP mentioned that he thinks it's running on 5 pots, is hard to start, has issues with rough idle, SES defect codes, the dreaded xmas lights, blows blue or worse white smoke, has had multiple breakdowns followed by many trips to his dealer/indy etc etc etc then fair enough, start looking at a replacement motor.

But 'ol mate Sobi hasn't mentioned any of the above, he's doing the right thing and just wants some maintenance/service guidance.

I'm looking forward more so to Sobi's comments rather than just blurt out 'trust me, swap the motor'

PS: I'm currently running at the same milage as Sobi, do I start looking for a replacement motor as well
