Vibration in steering

Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my problem. Driving on the freeway at about 100-110km/hr there is a vibration in my steering wheel. Then when taking a wide bend on the freeway at the same speed it feels like my front wheels are going to come off the car the vibration is that bad. I am going to try a wheel balance tomorrow and see if it goes away. Has anyone had a similat problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Weasel will become famous soon enough
I would guess you either have a wheel horribly imbalanced or a bent wheel. Either way a good balance guy can pick it out. I will suggest however than you bring it to a shop with a road force balancer and the knowledge to use it. A cheap tire store with untrained tire guys will just balance it the best they can and throw the keys back at you while properly trained guys with proper equipment will actually be able to determine the exact cause of the vibration.

Agree with Weasel to at least start there. Tire pressure and even a slightly bent rim will cause all types of vibrations and shaking. I've bent a few wheels and waht looks very slight to the human eye can be WAY off.

Good luck and if nothing else start here for a lost cost troubleshoot.
