4.8is and Boat Towing

Has anyone towed a boat with their 4.8is... this whole week I've been thinking of buying a 19' boat/weight with trailer about 3000lbs

All my friends are running their mouth saying shit like "Towing a boat with a BMW, you out of your mind" etc.

So can I hear any cases about towing boats with your 4.8is?

Thanks

Michael

I don't think it'll be a problem. I just searched on tongue weight for a tow I may have to make and it seems you can put 600 lbs on the tongue, so your boat should put no more than 300 lbs on it and is 1/2 the towing limit.

Get new friends.

I've seen bigger and heavier boats towed with X5's, including my shop formans multiple fishing boats. It will tow it without a problem, just make sure you got the OEM hitch and wiring.

but also make sure you have trailer brakes. The weight limit for a trailer without brakes is 1600 lbs, from memory. You can use surge brakes, or electric brakes.

Look here for a few pictures of boats, trailers, and X5s.

Just found out ECS orders them from BMW (new jersery ) (the 2nd link) and charges about $80 for delivery. So the 2nd link is about the same, maybe cheaper.
