Good price/Bad price - Tinting

I was told it would be $220 to do all (but front) with Sun Tek Carbon. Another $150 to remove the old one. Good price or bad price?

Good price, I paid about that.. You can probably remove it yourself though, it's pretty simple, I'm sure you can find a DIY online somewhere.

I would say a little over priced. I paid 160 for all windows. 150 to remove is a little expensive also. I'd shop around

Yeah you can remove it yourself with some glass cleaner and fresh single edge razor blades on a scraper. It is tedious and a bit of a pain, but worth the $150 you will save. And $220 is what I paid on mine as well, going through a good friend. Regular price where I went for an SUV of that size/number of windows was $330.

It's all based on location. It's a fair rate based on NYC rates...

A pro will get the glass cleaner and faster - given the proper tools. Steamer and it's quick work.

If you want to remove it yourself, I believe a old skool method is hot sun, black bad and ammonia...google it, but I recall this was the recipe for with.

Regardless of price, how is the tint quality. While it's 50% film, the other 50% is can the tinter tint well, or as I call it *to the edge*

if you're having trouble removing residue, use Denatured Alcohol.

Use masking tape to build up the single edge razor on the grip side. It will save your hands immensely.

removing old tint is a pita, but w/the room at the back of the X5, not too bad.

black bag, windex (or ammonia based window cleaner), sun (no razor blades for the rear window if you like your rear window defroster...).

I'd pay to have it done if you have better things to do with your afternoon.

Just make extra sure they don't use a razor blade on the rear windshield (you will have to specify) as admranger said. But same goes for the left rear side window that has the radio antenna built into it. And denatured alcohol will work very well to remove the left behind glue on those windows too as realchef said.

But trust me as I recently removed the messed up tint on my last girlfriends car, spend a couple extra dollars on a scraper handle for single edge blades. They are only a couple dollars at the auto parts store.

I paid $150 for an 03 mustang, and $120 for my old E36 2 door, $120 for my moms E39... $150 for the X5 is abnormally low, consider yourself lucky! Hopefully they did a good job at least.
