Newbie...help with warranty!!!

Hi gang,

I've been following the forum for a few weeks. I recentley purchased an 05 x5 4.8is with 44k. What a machine!!!

I wanted to inquire about warranty option that the members have had experience with. BMW quoted $2200 to cont. the maintenance program for 2y/40K (i think) and $3900 to cont. the bumper to bumper warranty for 2y/50k.

What has been your experiences with these options or outside vendors providing warranty. What are your thoughts regarding the maintenance program. Currenlty the car's original warranty ended 2 weeks ago!

Should be $1695 for ext maintance and I dunno which ext warranty they are trying to sell you, Bmw cannot sell you and factory coverage unless you are the orignal owner. They cannot sell you cpo coverage also unless they purchas the vehicle from you. And there is no such thing as a bumper to bumper warranty.

They mentioned that electronics/drivetrain...pretty much everything is covered unless they deem it was wear and tear that caused its failure...
The $1695 for ext maintenance...is that a standard price and where would I be able to find that if not....and do you believe that it is worth its price...i haven't yet had the chance to go through the scheduled maintenance check list on the car and do a cost comparison!
