Are E53 door internals same/similar to E39?

Since the E53 was based off the E39 chassis, are the door internals the same/similar?

Wacky idea forming in my tiny little brain...

In what way are you thinking? Looking at it from a basic perspective, yes, the door internals are similar. They both have window regulators, inner/outer door skin, door handle cables, wire harnesses, speakers, weather seals, all similar in design.

Now are they the same? No, since the parts cannot be interchanged between the two cars.

The e39 chassis might have been the inspiration or the platform the e53 was built up from, but they're still engineered differently. Oh, and the door is a part of the body of the car. So the similiarities between the chassis of each car would probably not mean much in finding an answer to your question.

What is it you're pondering? I'm actually curious to know where this is leading to...

Nah, just thinking of using some custom speaker baffles from an E39 setup in my doors so I didn't have to reinvent the wheel there...

Like I said, wacky idea...

Just compare them to the OEM speaker baffle...sorry I never did compare the 2 side by side.
