E53 Kidney Grill Install HELP

I just bought a matte black kidney grill for my E53 from jlevistreetwerks.com (the package says its from bimmian though) and i cannot install it. Every time I try, at least one of the clips does not fit in. Is there some sort of trick or is does product just not fit properly? There seems to be a whole lot of explaination for removing the grille online, but none for installing one.

They usually just snap in nice and tight. How much too tight is it? Does it seem like it will break if you press harder?

I can't push any farther. It feels almost like the hood of the car is to thick for the 2 pieces to stay together. When I put the actual grille piece in (not the trim), i can't really get it centered. Am I retarded or just missing something here?

I see you have a black grille on your X5. Just wondering if you got it from jlevi or bimmian as well.

Since I really wanted gloss black and all that was avalible online was matte black, I gave it the krylon touch. (which came out better than expected) I plan on removing the rattle can paint and painting it professionally if I can't fing some good gloss ones.

Not sure if yours is the same grill as mine (but didn't use at the end).... but the area where the bonnet handle suppose to sticks out is clashing with the grill. I had to cut a little opening on the grill (like the on on the original grill) in order for the handle to stick out probably when released.

However, this applies to one side of the grill (the other side should have no problem) and pre-facelift only.

Ok now i feel like an idiot. I DID seperate the 2 pieces. I will try it 1 piece and see how it works. And to simoncpw, my grille came with the hood latch cut already. I sure hope this works though. Thanks guys!

Did you seperate the 2 halves of the new grilles? If so put it back together and push the whole thing in from the front.... The holding latches are stepped to hold perfectly tight, which would keep you from snapping the halves back together through the hood.

I just installed Grille Kidney and it's pretty easy to install.
I have 2 (two) pairs of Grille Kidney for X5 2004-2006 one is EOM with titanium/chrome indy shop painted (used but very nice) and another is aftermarket chrome grille kidney w/ high quality,
anyone want to buy it PM me i will offer cheap. I have extra since I got very cheap from local craigslist.
