Gear stick knob removal

Is the gear stick knob not supposed to come easily when pulling it straight up? How much force does it need? I do not know if mine is glued or what but it does not come easily for sure. I am afraid to apply too much force to take it out.

You really gotta pull hard sometines, but don't worry... there is nothing to break. One trick is to put the shifter into the drive position so it is aiming back at you.

... funny side note. The other day in the shop I watched a fellow tech remove a shiftknob. He pulled so hard that when it popped off he punched himself in the face with it!!! (he was ok, just embarrased)

And when it comes time to replace the shift knob, push it back down first then give it a good wack with the side of your fist in order to lock it back in

Hey now... I'm not too proud to admit it was me if I did it...

This just happened to be someone twice my size that hits the gym daily which made it really funny!

i can`t resist telling this story about a man and wife driving to supermarket when car breaks down in car park.
the wife goes into store while man stays to repair car.
wife leaves store with shopping to see a crowd gathered around her car and when she gets to car she sees mans legs sticking out from under car.
people are pointing at mans shorts because his wedding tackle is visible so wife bends down and gently tucks away his tackle.
she then stands upright to see her husband at other side of car.
turns out he called out mechanic who now has to go to hospital to have stitches to a cut on his forehead .
poor guy must have thought some critter had crawled up his shorts.

I did that one time and bit my tongue because I always have it out when I'm working.
