i ordered the 214 with 20" .. and the wider set up or 313 in the back.. but while checkng in the registration office .. they refuse to authorize the change for me... i even checked with BMW agent, and he said the 20" are not authorized for my X since its 2000 model year... even the its 4.4 engine.. can this be true.. damn it...........

what do u mean not authorized? do you mean legally by law?
first time in my life to see a law against wheel change!

the registration office asked me to get a letter of approval on size from BMW dealer.. i emailed him.. and he said.. this size is not approved on ur vehicle... i checked the manual... and it doesnt mention the 20" size as an option.. it mention only 19".. .. i checked the manual for X5 2004 and up.. and i find the 20" size mention in the list of option wheels...they are requiring that the the wheel size be changed in the vehicle registration office to update ur car license...

Usually, if they aprove of the width of the rims, the diameter of the rims has nothing to say.

The only requirement is that it is within +/-5% of the rolling distance.

This is the first time for me to know that there are legal registration issues with tires and wheels!

It's the same here in Norway, but they usually only get hanged up about the width of the rims..
