just my luck with alternators
replaced my alternator(water-cooled) with a remanufactured one which looked in great condition. installed it and the damn thing leaks past the o ring. could the o ring be defective? does anyone know where I can find the correct way to pressure-bleed the cooling system? thanks in advance. . WEASEL, YOU OUT THERE?

This isn't as bad as what happened to my 740i. Did what you did and it failed in 3 months. Leaving me stranded 2x! WTF.

check for reside of an old gasket, and/or possibly make your own with hi temp silicon or something similar. be sure not to over tighten as it can cause the Alt to not seat properly. also tight it up alternating each one you tighten with one on the other side.
is there any crack in the housing? or visible warping of any of the mating surfaces?

I replaced the gasket on the alternator. original one had a slit on the side and it looked like it might have been the old one from someones core. cost me 26 dollars at habberstad
