I know it sounds obvious but check those connections!

I had swapped out the rear light assembly on my old (2002) X5, changing the non-sport rear lights with the amber corner to the clear ones (made a HUGE difference in the look on a Sienna Red...anyone remember that color?!?!?!). Anyway I had a few rear light warnings on the dash but after disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring at the light they went away and never came back.

Also agree with the other post to ask for another set from the seller is possible. Nothing wrong with checking another set if the problem persists.
