Seasoned BMW Owner...New to X5..4.8is

Greetings,

Just picked up new to me 2006 x5 4.8is.......Blue/Cream......all options except Cargo Deck. 22,500 miles. Picked it up in DC and drove it home on Saturday. I feared the gas millage at first but was really pleased with an 23.5mpg......

First impressions:

I was very disappointed with the stereo sound quality.....I would love to know if any one has converted the speakers to the BAV Audio set up and was it worth it?

Rear entertainment.....how do you get the sound to come through the cabin when playing a move? Or is this head phones only?

How do you turn on the Sirius Sat radio....i don't see where the option is when toggling am/fm/cd/aux

Side mirrors...they tuck in but do not stay...any ideas?

Congrats on the new toy. You HAVE to post some pics! When you type post, there is a "Manage Attachments" tab on the bottom of the page.
Add some jpegs so we can check out your new sweet ride.
You got great low miles on the X! Aside from the pics, would be very curious to know how much you paid. No judgements will be passed (at least not by me), just would be very informative to see what a 2006 4.8is fetches these days.

I installed the BSW Stage 1 and sub in my '01 X5. It made HUGE difference in sound quality and was worth the $. The stock system (non-dsp) stunk. I have DSP now, it's ok. If I had $ I'd do the upgrade again on the sound system. Do some searching for extended warranty info on this forum. You'll come up with lots of info/opinions. The company I got mine through went bankrupt but fortunately the parent company is still in biz and honoring it. Welcome to the club and enjoy your new X!

Congrats! and welcome to the club. I get similar highway mileage on my 4.8is.
Stereo tech is from 90s in E53 X5. You will have to do some upgrades for quality surround sound

I assume you didn't purchase from BMW dealer? Otherwise, you would have CPO warranty. I'm currently searching for an '06 with low mileage myself, but prefer CPO...they're fetching between $40k - $43k...non CPO's with 1 year of factory warranty left, are fetching in mid to upper $30's.

I believe once the X5 ///M is released, the E53's will take another beating.
