01 X5 Tow Hitch Wiring Harness

Guys, I know this has probably been spoken about before but in the search results i found i couldnt really get an accurate answer.

I have an 01 X5 and its booked in to get a hitch installed on Wednesday. The price originally qouted was $770Aud but i just got a call back to say that it needs a BMW wiring harness that will cost another $750 on top of the original quote. Is this my only option? Does $750 seem expensive?

Appricate the advice.
