Upgrade MKII to MKIII Nav

I am upgrading from a MKII to MKIII Nav unit.
I have unplugged the MKII unit (blue and purple plugs) and plugged these into my MKIII unit. (Making sure the red light is always off)
However, the new unit does not recognise my location, i.e. the GPS element does not appear to be working.

Am I missing something?? Do I need to plug both sockets in?? The MKIII unit has an extra tiny socket on the back on the other side to the blue and purple plugs. Do I need to plug something in here??? Is the new unit faulty??

Any help would be much appeciated.
Thanks
Boris

You need to plug in the antenna and drive around...it will then find you.

There is a silver box on the top of the racking where the nav unit sits. This has an antenna lead plugged into the back of it. Is this a separate GPS unit?? Does the MKIII have the GPS unit in built??

If it does then I'll try and unplug the antenna lead, plug it into the new unit and drive around and see what happens.

The MKIII has it built in. There is still an antenna that goes to the rear spoiler.

Yes, the silver box is the GPS receiver and the MkIII has that unit built-in. Take the antenna lead off the back of the silver box and plug it into the MkIII and also disconnect the rest of the connections from the silver box.

Once that is done your MkIII should start recognizing where you are located and give you proper guidance.

U can upgrade software for your NAV as well.
Turn on egnition,
Go to "Settings",
Read info-right upper corner of the NAV screen-
U should see info like 3-1/40 or something like this,
Check what is your system shows,
Go to Home Page of this Forum and find NAV section
All instructions are there.
Good luck.
