If the transmission on my X wasn't manufactured by GM, I would've considered the alternatives. But since its the same tranny found on other GM vehicles and they dont sell their ATF for the price BMW does, I dont see why I should over pay for something as simple as a fluid.

I agree. I'll go with the Valvoline Dex6. I use Redline D4 in my E34 that calls for Dex3, BTW.

I've got 1000 miles on the clock since doing the fluid drain and fill and filter replacement with the OE filter and Valvoline DEX VI.
