Anyone have this happen?

Took the 4.8is to get detailed. I picked the X up and drove about 3/4 of a mile from the detail shop and i got a "DSC/4X4 Inactive" light. Then about 10 seconds later got "TransFailsafe", then 10 seconds later "Engine Failsafe". I limped into a parking lot to shut down and restart. Engine would make 1 revolution, then alarm chirp, and CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK. I had to catch a flight so I called BMW Roadside and left the key with my wife and she dropped me at airport. I told her to try starting BMW once she got back to meet tow truck and sure enough, X started up and drove home just fine.........Could something have gotten wet??????
Makes no sense to me.

maybe they had the radio left on too long, and killed the battery?

Sounds like a weak battery to me too. I just had my 3rd battery installed a few weeks ago. My 2004 4.4 did the same thing, and also the instrument cluster went haywire, radio didn't work, etc. I went to the dealer after jumping the car and they said my battery was really weak from inactivity. The battery drained over a period of a year and just couldn't sustain all the power-intensive items in the car. The car shut down all non-essential systems until a new battery or a full recharge could be done.

your car doesnt have a power module to shut down consumers. currently only fiber optic equipped bmws have that ability. these models have an intelligent battery sensor connected at the ground cable.

Definitely not battery. Fully charged and works fine. I can only assume something got wet and caused it to go haywire. Everything is fine now. Just never happened before and only variable was the Car being washed.
Weird......
