HELP..Dealership Says this is NOT UNDER CPO!

My parking brake wont hold up. when i pull up the brake it doesnt click and stay clicked. i have CPO and Maintenance and when i took it to the stealership they tried to charge me 800! The way the service guy explained it to me is that the cables are overstretched from use and cannot be adjusted anymore. (btw they have been adjusting these cables since i got the car and everytime they did it the parking brake still didnt feel right).. Does anyone know about this problem and if it is covered in CPO? because i feel like it should be

absolutly no adjustments are covered under any warranty. parking brake shoes are adjusted during oil services under maintance program. i have never seen a cable overstretched. i have seen the nipple break off for the handle. if the car is still at the dealer, inspect with your own eyes. Remove the leather cover over the ebrake. Verify that both cables are evenly distrubted. if one nut is higher than the other, then this indicates that a tech, attempted to adjust the parking brake at the ebrake handle(this does not adjust the shoes at all). Parking brake shoes are ONLY adjusted with 1 lug bolt removed in each rear wheel.

If the adjuster is jammed, it is covered under CPO Defect code:34410829
if the handle is sticking or jammed, is it covered Defect code:34410029
if the the handle does not lock into position, it is covered defect code:34410065
if the entire parking brake has failed, use defect code:34411015

all components of the parking brake is covered under CPO except the shoes, and springs.

the maintance program will cover your shoes.

theyve adjusted it before...but i think they overdid it last time because apparently one of the cables snapped...technically its their fault...

Try Open Road in Edison if its not too far..Tell them ED from Metuchen with the green X5 and white E46 vert sent you.
Ask for Tony Martins or (his boss) Tim Taylor.

Hey good luck with the repair and related coverage. It's such a let down when our CPO/Maintenance doesn't cover these things...especially when so much of it seems to be at the dealers discretion. Take care of your SA and they should take care of you. I bought the service guys a few pizzas one day and after dealing with them for a while you should be able to build a good relationship.

I've had good service from Open Road (bought our first E53 from them in '01) but now deal with DCH BMW in Freehold (Rt9) and they're great.

See Ray (SA) or Todd (SM) in the service department and tell them Jason with the Highland Green E53 X5 and Grey E46 M3 (sound familiar?!?!?) spoke highly of them. (They're good guys. Good luck!
