Running Boards MAD EXPENSIVE!

Hey so i just got an 04 metallic blue 3.0 x5 and the first thing i really had my mind set on doing was getting the metal running boards. So I call my local bmw dealer and the running boards themselves are $930 plus tax without installation, I can't justify paying that much without installation, wat are my other options cuz i still really want the legit running boards not the fugly ebay ones.

Ah....

for all its worth, I never use my running boards - don't step on them getting into or out of the X5. I don't even step in them when drying the roof after washing.

They seem to be at an awkward level to be of practical use.

They do have some cosmetic value, especially when reflecting off newly waxed door panels.

You know, I keep telling myself that I'm going to buy some running boards, especially after seeing some of the nice X5's on the board with running boards. But when it comes down to it, I chicken out, because I tell myself that I could use a trailer hitch more than the running boards. I cannot decide on what to do. Then again, I have to show the 330 some love too, especially this summer with a massive tune up.

I get a lot of use out of mine. I used to try to hop up into the seat but now I just step up onto the board and gently plop my ass in . Also when I get out, I step onto the board first and then lower myself down. It does come in handy if you know how to use them to your advantage.
