1st Vegas run with X5, hits 150 mph

OK, my first trip with the X5 and it was to Vegas. This thing was so stable and solid on the Hwy 15. The 4.6 moves pretty good. Not super fast, but the speed is deceiving. You get going fast than it feels.

I had only one competition of speed this trip. Guy in Dodge Truck thinking his hemi is the sh&t. I am moving through traffic with these damn semi's who keep passing and slowing traffic down. I come up on the right side and the Hemi guy floors it to close the door on my entry to the fast lane. So I get behind him. The lane opens up on both sides and he goes WOT. I down shift to 4th as we were doing about 80 already. He got a 3-4 second jump on me but as I started to close the gap pretty easy I get up on the right side and just walk this guy at about 110.

On the way back I had some open road and it was just too inviting. Doing 90 already I drop to 4th and drop the hammer . I hit 150 at ease going up a slight upgrade. Letting of the gas the X slows pretty quick with out any braking. It felt so good I did it one more time. Damn the X was loving that speed. Felt so solid to the ground and felt she had more in her for sure.

Got to get the Dinan engine software, no speed limiter then.

I love taking my 4.6is on the highway! I made a 4 hour trip this weekend too (resulting in about 10 lbs of bugs on the front) and it feels more stable on the highway than anything I've owned before.

And you can tell the guy in the dodge truck that technically, we all have hemi's in our BMWs. Just smaller, faster and more powerful!

And the BMWs are actually hemis, unlike the Dodge truck. Dodge isn't using a hemi head, they are just recycling the hemi nametag. Truth in advertising be damned.

Open road is great, however maybe you never heard of helicopter or air patrols on the routes to Vegas. Just keep that in mind.

Wow, what a coincidence! I was in Vegas this weekend too! I only saw 2 other X5s on the road with me but I did have a run with a Lemans M5 coming back. He hit 120 and I was right on his tail. I guess he didn't want to run it past 125 since I ended up passing him. Not even a glance over...lol. Oh well, I kept it civil as I knew it was the end of the month and CHiPies love to rack up their tickets to meet their quota. I saw at least 4 patrol cars on various parts of the 15S.

I also thought about the air patrol being around so I didn't push it past 85. There was no way they would miss an big estoril x5 hauling down the road. At least with black you could at least try to fight it if you got busted

Thats cool, too bad we didn't run into each other. CHP patrol seemed really light this trip. My V1 kept the speed in check when needed. Hate those damn speed signs that trip the V1 off like 5 miles away. Never sure if the Chippy is cloaking himself amongst these radar signs.

I did see a silver 4.6 and a X6 with a 5.0 emblem. What's in those things?
