Front Heated Seats turn off by themselves
Hey guys,
I hope someone can help me with this. When i turn on either of my front two heated seats, all three green lights will light up and then turn off. if i quickly hit it, i can decrease the setting to 2 green or 1 green, but no matter what level of heat i have it set at, it turns off within a few seconds. it does the same for the passenger and drivers seats. the rear seat heaters work fine. Anyone know what could be causing this? i have a 2004 3.0 X5 any help would be appreciated. thanks |

I'd first try charging the battery fully overnight as it will shut down consumer loads if it sees the charge level too low. Other than that, it may have some relative faults stored in the general module if you know a shop with the BMW GT1 tester.

I'm having the same problem with my front heated seats. Anyone come up with a solution?

It is rare for both front seat heaters to fail at the same time., i suspect the center console switching control unit has a short in it or otherwise liquid damage in it. The control unit monitors the seat temp and if a short in the temp sensor is present, the LEDS will go out. i trial fit a known good control unit before going any further with seat dissassembly. |

Either heated seat button lights up when I first press it then goes out about 3 seconds later

I think its your thermoster going bad but I hardly imagine both could go bad at the same time. does your seat ever get any hot in those 3 seconds?

Turns out the fuse was blown. I just replaced it and the heated seats are working now! If only all repairs could be that cheap...
