Alarm

Last summer when we went on vacation for 10 days we left the X5 in the airport's parking garage. When we returned, the battery was completely dead. (there were no lights, etc. left on). The guy from AAA told us that this happens a lot with X5's because of the alarm system even with good batteries. When I contacted the dealer, they said that this also happens in their parking lot with new BMW's but could not give an explanation. Since we are planning 2 more trips this summer I don't want to leave the car unlocked at the airport so is it feasable to just take out the alarm fuse (assuming there is one) and locking it without screwing up something.
Thanks,
Fred
