Cost of Repaint

Hi there.

I got a 2003 bmw X5 260,000 on the engine mainly highway and thats where the problem is.

My Bonnet or Hood whatever u like to call it is all chipped up from stones, and is in really bad condition. Now getting just the bonnet resprayed would make it go out of place, so im wondering how much does it cost to get a good respray?

Thanks in advance

Depends what type of quality job your looking for.

For a A+ job, I think its generally around $3k

Well if I was to get it repainted I would rather get a really high quality paint job as i plan on keeping the car for several more years as it is well maintained and no mechanical problems.

Just the hood? $3k is insane. I wouldn't pay anything more than $800. Any reputable shops could paint match it and blend it with the rest of the car. From what i know, they try to match it as best as the can then polish the whole car with match the shine.

i was thinking since the whole car is many years old ( 2003 model ) it would look a bit odd, and be very noticable, so I rather get a full respray.

If I were you I wouldn't do that. First the car is old $3k or more is too much compared to the value of the car. It could breaks down anytime from now on then you wouldn't gain much in that case of a new paint job. Get the hood blended in and get it detailed.

I dont know any place in Toronto but make sure you dont go to Maaco. They will just mess up your car and make it look like crap when returned to you. The paint will peel. The Clear coat will wear out in a year.

oh no, definitely say no to macco.

Go to a shop and explain your concerns and see what they say. You get what you pay for with painting, its just that simple.
