Side mirrors while in reverse

Hello Newbie here, I am new to BMW. I have recently purchased a 2001 X5 4.4i, when I put it in reverse the passenger mirror tilts down. Should the drivers mirror do the same?? If so, where can I possibly get a replacement motor for the mirror? Thanks in advance.

Passenger side mirror only...and, one can turn that "off" by the switch on
driver's door panel. Welcome to the Board.

No for the drivers side.... BMW drops the passenger mirror so you can see the curb on the passenger side as you are backing up

Both my mirrors will "dip" in reverse from time to time. Glitch in the software that popped up when the dealer "stole" my auto retracting steering column just after we bought the beast. (Some BMW NA software change to prevent motor burn out during warranty.) I cannot predict just when it will happen and sometimes it does it overnight when all alone in the garage.
This is why, if it had the program, I would never let a BMW auto-park!
