Parking Brake Button doesn't engage
The handbrake/emergency brake in my 2003 X5 doesn't work (I just bought the X5). The issue is that the handle doesn't engage when you pull it up. I removed the leather boot and handle cover, and upon moving the handbrake button, I was able to pull the button out! It has a long slender metal rod (w/ sprig) attached that goes into a hook-like piece, and that hook is broken.
Does anyone know if I can get this part online? I have been searching via Google, but have come up with nothing. The dealer got to me for a grand after I bought this X5 for a number of repairs, so I'd like to take care of this one myself. Any help is appreciated.

Asides from doing a search here for hints/tips on part replacement also try RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog . Just punch in your VIN number and search in emergency (hand) brakes section for part numbers and approximate costings then go to http://www.ecstuning.com/ to source those parts. GL
