OBC acts as if car isn't started
Hi all,
This is my first thread started on this forum, and I this place is a great source of information! It shows how useful this site is because although this is my first post this definately my first question, and search has been my friend.. I haven't found anything about this though!
This morning while starting up the X5 to go to work all my gauges (speed, tach, temp, gas), odometer, OBC display, radio, DSC controll and heated steats didn't work. The only sign of life in the cluster was the ABS light. The Nav screen showed the boot logo but would shut off as if the car wansn't on. The car started and ran fine the climate control started and ran as usual, and I had to get to work so I took it. At the first light I turned off the car and simulated exiting, arming, disarming, re-entering and re-starting the car to try and quickly reset it. All symptoms persisted, so I continued to work. A couple hours into my shift I went back out to my car, I thought I'd try it because it had been off for over 15 minutes allowing the computer to shut off completely. Regardless it acted the same way. The only electrical modification to the car is a Dice Silverline which I have unplugged from the changer ports in the trunk. Earlier tonight it was dark enough out that the lights turned on automatically. I opened the door and the OBC display in the dash lit up indicating that the lights were on, as if the car was off. All fuses seem fine for anything pertaining to the computer system. Basically it seems like the OBC can't tell that the car is on! Thank you in advance for any ideas you have.
