Angel Eye Upgrade

Hi, all.

I just purchased (but not yet received) these angel eyes from Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-02-03-BMW-E53-X5-CCFL-TWIN-HALO-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ02 4QQitemZ370196757377QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW).

These are “projector” headlights, while the stock lights on my ‘02 are not. Will this still be a relatively easy “plug and play” install or will I need to purchase bulbs specific for a projector headlight assembly? Perhaps I should have asked this before purchasing!

Lastly, has anyone purchased this type from this seller? If so, can you share any thoughts on the quality, troubles you may have run into? Thanks for any help.

if you want HIDs you will need a ballast and xenon bulb. i highly recommend getting HIDs..

install should be plug and play as i have a similar housing.

If you plan to replace halos by Xenon (HID), install the ballasts underneath of headlight before you install the entire headlights into your car. This way gives you easier in progress of headlights upgrading.

Actually, I returned them right after they arrived because they delivered two driver side assemblies. Plus I found these DEPO AEs I like a bit better that I will probably order once that Ebay vendor credits my PayPal account (2000-03 BMW E53 X5 ANGEL XENON HID HEADLIGHTS 3.0i 4.4i:eBay Motors (item 120410507019 end time May-23-09 16:27:28 PDT)=).

However, unlike the lights I just returned, these DEPOs are are not CCFL, unfortunately. But I cosmetically liked them better.

That is the only problem I have w/ some of these aftermarket headlights, is that they come w/ their version of angel eyes already installed. I put in a set similar to the first pair you showed on my buddies 750iL...I liked how the marker light and headlight we're intergrated into one housing (they are seperate pieces stock), but the angels we're very poorly lit. I want the option of installing my own angel eyes so I can get some that are VERY bright and visible, even in the daytime....which i'm searching for now

If you're still searching for a set of aftermarket HID's, these guys are a great supplier and come highly recommended on bf.c - DDM Tuning - HID Kits, HID Bulbs, DEPO Lighting, BMW and Porsche Performance Accessories

I ended up going with the DEPO lights from fishcake321 on Ebay which are just like DMM Tuning's. But these were a little more expensive because they include the Xenons and auto levelers.

pics would be awesome once you get the installed. I've been debating whether to go the aftermarket route or splurge for the official BMW xenon retrofit.

So the DDM Tuning AEs would be an OK fit for the 00-03 E53s?
