Talking Getting X back today with tranny #3 (technically 4)!!!!

Last year I paid $4200 for a tranny rebuild - luckily it came with a 2-year, unlimited mile warranty. Earlier this year the torque converter shredded apart and sent metal thru the entire system, so the tranny was taken out and rebuilt again. In the past month I was having issues with stalling and lack of accelerator response, but no SES light. Changed out the throttle housing and exhaust cam sensor but the problem still existed. Shop finally deducted that it was the TC once again not releasing or engaging. The shop they use for the tranny work agreed to pull out this tranny and replace the whole thing with a different rebuild.

Hope to be back on the road today!!!

I hope everything works out well for you. I jus got my X5 back last night from having a new transmission installed - so far it appears to be running good

Geez.... 3rd repalcement trans? I bet that shop is reconsidering the way they rebuild or at least looking for better quality parts as this has to be costing them now.

Where did you get it done? If I ever neeed a rebuild I would like to avoid this place. Atleast they are replacing it for you, but what a pain in the ass. I would be steaming.

I am not sure who is doing the rebuild because it is a place that my Indy subs it out to. My indy said he has been using him for years and he specializes in BMW trannies. Based on what he has told me it sounds like I just got a bad rebuilt unit the first time around and instead of continuing to deal with it he agreed to replace the entire unit. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday but he wanted to drive it more to make sure all systems were working properly. Yes, it has been a hassle taking it back, but he has stood behind his work and they have provided me with transportation.
