Gearbox or electrical??

Hi there, having a problem with my 2001 diesel auto x5. everything is fine driving around town etc but when you accelerate up to 80mph it wont go no more, it feels like its being held back, no power there atall. On hills im finding it do this around 60mph you can have your foot flat to the floor but there is no pull there atall.

I have searched the forum and cannot find anyone with similar problems as me!!

what do you recon??

if you do short distances your exhausts gets condensation in it and it falls apart inside over time it happened to a friend of mine

thats quite interesting you say that, the guy who had it before me only used it for short distances. Do you know what part of the exhaust he replaced, the rear boxes??

I thought it cant be the exhaust because it revs and pulls fine at low speeds?

i think it was his back box is your oil level ok

yea oil level is fine. I may pop to see my mate and disconnect the exhaust to see if it makes any different, im guessing it doesnt rely on back pressure being a turbo, maybe a bit noisy but atleast it will tell me if that is causing the fault

Update, had the exhaust disconnected today inc the cat, made no difference

Have booked it into a electrical automotive engineer who is going to have a look to see if he can find any faults

UPDATE Part 2.. took to the electrical automotive engineer, he ran a diognostics on it, showing no faults at all, says he doesnt know what it is.............the story continues. I have got a feeling that this is going to cost alot of money to sort this problem.

I also found out that my car had a new gearbox fitted 11k ago by bmw so im guessing its not that.
