Foggy headlamp covers

I brought my 2008 X5 to the dealer yesterday as it seems like there is moisture or cloudy film in the plastic covers of the headlights. They told me that because they are plastic they will appear that way and one of the technicians there went ahead and cleaned them. He told me that I will need to clean and WAX them periodically to stop this from happening. He also tried to tell me that the plastic will film up from UV rays and sunlight on them (but this car does not sit in direct sun). The service manager did tell me if this problem continues he would have the covers replaced. Never have I had this problem with any other car. Our last car, 2005 Lexus GX470 also had plastic covers and they were always perfectly clear. Has anyone else had this problem and any solutions (as this sounds ridiculous for a car of this price)?

Get them replaced. Perhaps a detailer used something strong enough to cloud them up? I'ts way too new to have this happen already from the sun and elements. Waxing and polishing is just a temporary cover-up.
.....and by the way, I had to move 10 feet away from my computer to read what you wrote.

That's what I thought too. I have a call into our BMW service department right now.
