New X5 4.4i Owner (and a rusty trailer hitch question)

Hi Guys,

Just picked up a 2006 X5 4.4i this morning - my first SAV (had a 330ci and a 330i before this). Time to try out the truck.

I'm not going to use it to tow anything, but it does have the trailer hitch installed. The hitch is fairly rusty and not great looking. Does anyone have any experience repainting them?

I'm just planning on sanding it, masking the bumper, and hitting it with some black rustoleum, but I thought I'd ask the experts before I dove in.
