Whistle Performance Mods for 3.0i?

I know I know, the best performance mod is to sell my 3.0 and buy a 4.4 or 4.6/8, but I'm happy with the one I have and I'm not ready to trade up just yet. The color, condition, and options are exactly what I want and I'm surprised with how well it already performs.

Ok, now that I've overly justified myself what are some good ways to get a little extra? I've looked at exhausts, intakes, and ignitions, but I don't want to play guessing games based on my limited knowledge. Any suggestions???

Intake, exhaust and programming are your main three options. The end result in my opinion is not worth the money. If you want fast, stick to your 600R You are better off spending your money on non-performance mods such as V1/S1, Icelink etc. Just my .02

The M54 is one of BMW's best engines out of the factory. There isn't much you can do to get anything more out of it. Be happy with what BMW gave you until you're ready for something more. btw, I'm in the same situation as you are with a 3.0i .

Talking

The biggest boost for the 3.0i will be a supercharger for the X5.

DINAN software

I installed the DINAN engine software and the transmission software and can tell a big difference. It's not real expensive, but for what you pay, it's worth it. The engine software is $399 and the transmission software is $349. I got 15% off of both of mine. I love it so far..........gives that extra punch!

The $6235 spent on the supercharger could instead be used on a 4.4i down the road. The difference is that he'd get the money back he spent on the 4.4i. Aftermarket parts like this aren't the easiest to sell with the car. If it was Dinan, it might change things a little.

ESS Superchargers use ASA blowers. Technikpower.com stocks ASA superchargers for BMW's, and they are making custom software for them too. They are also cheaper than ESS, and you don't have to send your ECU out of country.

dealer

BMW of Nashville did mine. They are an authorized DINAN installer. There aren't too many out there as far as dealers (that's what I've been told). I drove about 175 miles to have mine done - I live in Knoxville............very pleased with it and well worth it. Plus, everything is still covered under warranty because it's DINAN. It feels like it has 50 more hp - especially in SPORT mode.......
