Need help Oil leak

Hello all, first I want to say this is an amazing forum and I have read and learned alot from you guys already. I have searched and havent found an answer to what my problem is.

My problem is I have small leak of either oil or transmission fluid coming from the bottom of my 02 4.4 X5. It seems to be coming from a rubber piece(cap PN 24001422960) that can be removed that is on the bottom of the transmision. Its not a very big leak maybe a drip or 2? but I am concerned and want to get it fixed.

Is anyone here familiar with this or had this problem before. I would like to know what Im dealing with so I don't get ripped off if I cant fix this myself.

If you are able to snap a quick picture of it that would help... hard to visualize it properly.

most likely your coolant valley plate is leaking., it could also be the rear coolant plate behind the flywheel that is leaking, but is pretty rare for that to happen.

What is a coolant valley plate and how hard/expensive is it to replace?

I agree that it is coolant leaking from either the valley pan and/or the rear crossover pipe gaskets.

standard rate goes 8 hours of labor. recommended to re-seal intake manifold at the same time, lookin at $1500 or less, but who knows.

Its definitely coolant and your using the wrong one it should not be green it should be Blue

The coolant valley pan is under the intake manifold and is a decent sized job. And will pretty much call for the full job that covers alot. When ever I change one I fully reseal the intake manifold (all new gaskets) including replacing the rear cover plate that holds a rubber diaphragm. And since you need to remove the coolant pipes that cross above the valley pan I use that time to change the gaskets of the rear crossover and o-rings on both sides of the pipes.

About an 8 hour job in the shop, takes just about all day for a mechanic that has experience with it.

Thanks I had someoe look at it and they said that I would need to replace all those gaskets but I wanted a second opinion of what the problem was. Thanks guys I feel better about what they said. Thank you guys.
