Aux In

Hi --

I have just learned about the "AUX IN" option for the X5. I have a 2001 X5 4.4 currently with factory GPS as well as a multidisc changer and a TV tuner as well as a DVD player installed in the back seat. I connected my MP3 player to the audio connectors that were connected to the DVD player but I had two issues - one, the audio only came through one channel and so it sounds bad and two, I needed to turn "on" the TV and change it to "AUX" to hear the music from the MP3 player. Is this "AUX IN" option I have been reading about another option for being able to use my MP3 player in the car?

I'd like to remove the DVD player and TV tuner as well as the multi-disc changer and so if I can get this AUX IN working that would be great.

Thanks

Rich

Search can help, but in this case the question was asked so recently that is visible on the same page.

Essentially, your AUX connection in the rear is to play a video game or similar through your TV. Forget it for decent sound quality.

You can get an audio in kit from BMW that will accept your iPod or similar, or you can get the "iPod your BMW" kit that only takes an iPod but adds integration with the controls on the steering wheel, or you can get an aftermarket device that is similar (DICE or equivalent). Check the forum on the home page that is specifically for audio/video posts.
