Spare Tire Question

Before a day trip I noticed one tire had a slow leak, and decided to use the spare. But the size was 235 R17 instead of the stock 255 R18 on my 02 4.4 x5. Why would they not put the same full size spare inside, and would the smaller one be ok for a day trip, or only for short distances??

Thanks, Rick

Fine to use...looks weird, may handle slightly differently if you really
push it, but the effective diameter and rolling revolution is nearly identical;
that's why they use that size: fits in the spare wheel well and rolls down the
road the "same way".

I Have 19's on my X with a 18 as spare. Does'nt handle as good ,get use to it after a while, The Spare is a larger profile to take up the diffrence.
