Transmission slam

Are you currently experiencing a transmission slam - a.k.a. that feeling of getting rearended by a truck, regardless whether you've adopted your driving style to minimize it?

If yes, please reply with your truck's year a litre-age.

It happened with my '05 4.4i. Usually after accelerating from a slow roll. Fixed with transmission software upgrade.

Exact same situation and solution.

Before getting the software upgrade I had tried to reset the tranny which helped for a short period of time, but the problem would always reappear eventually. Software upgrade fixed it for good (been almost 3 years now...).

Usually fixed by programming then while the adaptations are blanked out you have to make that first drive a really slow and easy one... driving like you're stepping on an egg. That way it learns to shift really soft, so when you drive normally it is smoother.

Weasel, Is it possible to reset it by yourself or you have to go to the dealer?

There is a procedure floating around that people say clears the transmission adaptations, but it has not been confirmed yet. I can confirm it next time I pull my truck in the shop by reading the adaptations before and after, but I am forgetfull and have not remembered to do it yet...
