Bad Cam Sensor...

Okay I pulled out a code that read I have a bad cam sensor in bank 1. I think that's the exhaust cam sensor. But here's my issue.. Lately I have been hearing more of my valves knocking. It's not loud like I blew something but it just sounds like I'm having a timing issue.

Would a bad cam sensor cause this type of valve knocking or bad timing?

I did read up on a the DIY page that after replacing the faulty cam sensor, the motor ran smoother.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Yeah, it could... as the DME uses the cam signal to compare to the crank signal for comparison and that tells it the vanos positions and how far advanced or retarded to put the ignition. If it doesn't see cam signal properly it will advance the ignition to the point of pre-ignition causing valve knock. The knock sensors will keep this in check mainly, but it should smooth out nice once you replace the sensor.
