You may want to consider using these...

I took them off when I unloaded the 7 and then placed them on my X5. While mine are chrome, I am sure that the black ones would look just as good. A quick install and while they are very easy to remove...they don't fall off. They also come in other colors... bmw bolt covers, great deals on eBay Motors on eBay! Make sure you get X5 specific lug bolts. Regular ones are very, very different (as are the torque values of the lug bolts). X5 bolts are two piece w/a rotating bushing cone that mates with the wheel vs. the solid, 1 piece ones on regular BMWs...

I had the covers on my 7 series and now have them on my X5 and they are working fine and look sweet. My buddy has a red set on his M3 and the guy down the block has them on his 550i. They seem to be a nice clean and inexpensive look, IMO.
