X5 not starting once every 2 weeks

Really could use some help on this. I have a new battery as of Feb at which time the alternator was tested to be ok as well. Yet every 2 weeks give or take a day the X just wont start. I've started it, driven it to the gas station, shut it off, put the gas in, go to start it back up nothing. Everything on the dash lights up, headlights work, climate control turns on, but it just wont turn over. I hook up jumper cables to it and it will start right up. I can even shut it off right after I jump it and it will start back up. It wont do it again for another 2 weeks. I talked to the dealer who said $200 to look and "I dont know what to tell ya". Thanks for any help.

i have the same problem. have you had any work done recently on the vehicle? you should do a proper test on the alternator under load. I just replaced my alternator and the same problems occur. I think its the alternator. I will be checking mine again once i repair my suspension and it drives again.

I had the halogen headllights replaced with umnitza AE's and HID's. It did start this problem around the sametime. I know they tapped the parking lights for the AE's. The part thats the biggest mystery is after the jump start I can shut it off and start it back up. It wouldn't be able to do that if the battery was drained.

Mystery solved. Finally got fed up with it not starting on me, especially at some of the most inconvienent times so I had to suck it up and take it to the dealer. $700 and a new starter, problem solved.
