Clicking, won't start

Just went out to the X to start the car and it's clicking and not turning over. Initial reaction is a weak battery as everything else is powered up. No real reason why battery would be dead....so I'm a little concerned.

Any ideas?

Thanks

jumped it from the rear and it started....looks like I was getting around 8.xx volts with everything off. Should I just go get a new battery or try and let it charge. This time I won't park it in the garage so I can jump it a little easier if it dies again.

2005 40k miles. There were no signs/symptoms of the battery getting weak and I drove it for a significant period of time yesterday before I garaged it. I'll drive it around for awhile and park it to see if I can start it again.

alright....drove it and restarted it and everything seems to be fine with the exception of the DSC 4x4 light. That is staying on. I guess I'll search that out now.

hopefully this is my final update....went back out to car to check voltage and I'm getting 12.5 off of the battery. Just for fun I turned the X back on and the light is out. I figured that would happen.

I'm guessing my rear hatched wasn't closed properly and it was trying to close itself all night and that led to the battery draining...I noticed it was being difficult over the past few days. I would have to say that the auto closing hatch is probably the one thing I do not like about the X. Most people slam it shut...so what's the point.

That's exactly what happened to me. I parked it in my Mother-in-laws garage near the airport before going on vacation and returned to find that the battery was dead. I noticed the that the gate wasn't closed properly. There's a narrow "no-go" zone where it triggers the closer but doesn't actually close so it cycles endlessly. It would be nice if the X5 beeped if the gate closer cycles more than 2 or 3 times in a row.
