Perhaps what makes it look dated sometimes, is when we don't wash it for a while?? But when my X is newly shined and polished, with tire dressing and shiny rims...man, it looks like it just rolled off the assembly line!

With that preface I have a story.....I shit you not...this is true and blew my mind....I chuckled.....

So I am whipping around my town here in CT...a shoreline town.....so everyone has their crotch rockets/harleys/ricers/euro's ..etc......My X is know as being pretty cool around town.... lots of comps......so one day I am at a red light.....a Range Rover Sport pulls up......hot 20 year old chick driving with her boyfriend.....they proceed to roll down there window and get my attention.............the kid says .....ney bro..... man......when did you take delivery on that X5 M..........I proceeded to say.....(firstand foremost) Nice Range......he says....ahh not mine its hers........then I say.....hey man....this is a highly modified 2002 3.0 X5...........they told me to pull into the Burger King parking lot......I agreed.....i'm used to that type of thing.............this kid was all over my X......with his womans range right next to me.......I was going to do my best Tucker Max and steal his girl, but instead stuck to the topic at hand!!! LOL!..........

First of all obviuosly this kid does not know anything about X5's though he said he did......Secondly, that is my point... the lay person....(non X5er...or the likes of...) they dont know the difference... I drove away from that feeling good about my X and the X5 in general.... I said the same thing look closer....

I am considering getting a new vehicle, but the X5 will stay in the family for another couple of years. "The boy" will be getting his drivers license in another year, and I intend to give it to him for his first car. If nothing else, he will be safe while learning to drive. So many teens have a wreck in their first year of driving, so we will feel better with him in the X5.
