chip on the windshield

I noticed a small chip on the windshield...Disappointed to see that.
Checked with my insurer,Geico and they have a free repair. Now there are two options
1. i can choose my own repair shop or
2. they can send SAFELITE AUTOGLASS.

What would you recommend folks?

I've had Safelite repair mine once, and replace it later on due to another crack. They did a fine job. If you have to replace it, make sure to tell them whether or not you have the rain sensor.

Also if you have to replace the windshield maybe consider a Comfort Windshield Installation . Apparently they only cost a little more than a stock one.

I would check with the dealer, and also call the other luxury car dealers and maybe a high-end body shop or two, and see who they use.

The insurance companies really lean on the low-cost glass franchises and of course they use their proprietary glass and adhesives. Sometimes this is ok and sometimes it is not.

Note that some cars feature non-reusable seals and reveal moldings. You need to check on that yourself by asking a competent glass shop. The franchise guys rarely know.

The franchise people are usually pretty good at chip repairs because they do a lot of them for the insurance companies.
