New Toys

Well I just got done shopping for new toys for the E53 after receiving a surprise phone call yesterday. My first purchase of the night was 4 four new Conti Crosscontact's to replace some very worn and most likely original Michelins that have started to leak. I found that out on Easter after coming out to an almost flat rear tire. i love my wife but man she never notices anything. My next was an oem hitch and ball from Hunterdon BMW that I found on Ebay. Not bad pricing at just over 500.00 with shipping. The next item I will be taking care of tomorrow, which is where the surprise phone call comes in. I received a call from my mother yesterday telling me that she had learned about a repo of an 08' StarCraft popup camper that she thought would be perfect for the family. She was right of course because mothers always are. My wife and I wanted to start camping this year with my small girls aged 4 and 7 but, my wife was not to hip on the idea of a tent. She said that she would love to have a popup. Well yesterday I put in a bid and it went through I sign the papers tomorrow. i really got a great deal at about half of what the NADA book said it was worth. It seems to be pretty well loaded for what it is. It has room to sleep six, stove, frig, sink, shower, porta potti, electric brakes, A/C, furnace, and an outdoor grill. it should make for some fun times this summer. I want to thank you guys that have put together the hitch DIY's as I can see it will be very helpful and save a ton of money on the hitch install. I will be snapping pics of the install and hope to have the camper hitched to the E53 next weekend for our first camping trip out to my Uncles farm. Yeah not much for really camping but it will be a good test of my backing abilities.

this is what it looks like

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Sounds like you're gonna have a really fun summer withplenty of family camping!

I used a pop-up of the same size last year for a big weekend at the track, was decently comfortable at night, especially with the AC... just make sure you got gas for the generator! (my old generator only had a 1.5 gallon tank, only got 3-4 hours per fillup. made sleeping with the AC hard in late June in the south!)

I can tell you the X5 will barely even know that thing is back there, even without the electric brakes hooked up.
