My car has water inside everytime it rains

Help!

I hope someone can help me figure out what is happening with my car. Everytime it rains the front side passenger floor of my car is soaked. Really soaked. I have to take the matt out and let it dry off outside and I can easily soak up a towel with all the water that is in my car. I have looked around the outside of my door but I don't see any signs of a leak and I also don't think it's the windshield.

(2002 x5 4.4i)

Thanks,

virginia

Sounds like it could be a clogged sunroof drain, which is not uncommon.

Use the search to find more info. Here's one recent discussion on this issue with some pictures and tips: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...loorboard.html

could be sunroof drains , i just clean the seals regularly with car wax or you could try some silicone grease .
i have 2002 4.4i and my doors leaked depending which doors were getting wind driven rain .
water runs down windows into door and heavy rain will accumulate because the drains can`t cope and so water gets past membrane into door card . you will see when door is closed there is a gap from floor to door card so water drips from card then can`t get past door seal so soaks carpet .

i sealed cards at base then drilled 2 holes to accomodate plastic pipe from soap dispenser , the pipe closes onto frame seal and allows drainage .
also on door base there are grommets , you can puncture these to allow more drainage .

Thanks for the help, you were right I opened up the sunroof and poured water into each induvidual drain and watched underneath the car for the water. The water came out underneath the driver's side but NOTHING came out from under passenger side. I will go to BMW tomorrow and ask how much to fix.

Thanks!

Virginia, try some weed wacker line to clear the drain. Cheap and pretty easy. Just go gently.

My guess is pine needles or pods, seeing your location...

Update,

BMW dealership said they could shoot air through the line for $250 but said it might not work. The other option would be to replace the hose which they said would cost---get this---$2,400 because they would need to partially move the tranny to get to the hose underneath the car. Well--now way.

So-i got some weed whacker line and did push it down about 2 feet untill I hit a blockage. To make sure this was not a bend or something, i fed the line through the other side, drivers side, and i went much further. I also notcied that the weed whacker line was wet at the lower six inches for the problem side. In addition there was a bit of dirt on the end of the line. I tried to dig at the blockage with the weed whacker line but it simply is not strong enough and bends, I need something tougher i can feed down and attempt to push out what maybe be a large seed, pine needles, or something else. I'll try some large vynil wire or a light weight metal wire. I dont think it's a disconnected line from the sunroof as the water is in the line and there is some kind of blockage at a point.

Any other ides in the meantime?

electricians use a thin fibreglass rod to feed cables through buildings so you could try that .
i think it`s 4mm rod but may or may not be flexible enough for your purpose
