Leather Seat Wear

Warranty has two days left and I had the seat bottom replaced due to excess wear on the drivers seat. I just picked up the X and the new seat bottom really doesn't match the seat back as the seat back has been worn in now for 40k miles. The service managers were gone so I didn't get to talk to them.

1. Has anyone else had this replaced on gotten a full seat?
2. Did anyone get both front seats replaced to match?

I can probably take it back in and suggest that the seat back is pretty worn as well...but I would like to have evidence what BMW has done for other users.

Nothing even comes close to the results you get with leatherique.
Best stuff on the market.

Unfortunately, getting everything replaced to matched probably won't work.

I had a sagging driver's seat, and I had the option to replace not only the cushion, but the cover. I declined the cover, as this would mean a big difference in appearance with the seat back and the rest of the seats.

Like the others recommended, apply a cleaner/conditioner to the seat bottom and back to get the sheen/texture more consistent.

If nothing else works, you can have the seats dyed. I have seen it done on a friends Corvette and I liked it – It looked like new.
I had a 350Z Touring before my X5 and the driver’s seat showed some wear. I bought a leather dye in spray can form, figuring I do both seats since they won’t match. But after I did the first one it looked like a perfect match and I never did the passenger side.

And yes, the seat looked like new again, and the dye stayed fine until I sold the car.

Yes, we had our black seats dyed on our 98 323ic. worked great, but find a reputable place, don't cheap out on this one...

I just had my front passenger seat replaced due to the fact that the seat belt sensor went bad. It amazed me that they had to replace the entire leather seat cover just to fix the problem.

I'm in the same boat. My passenger seat looks great vs. my 50K mile driver's seat. My X5 is a CPO. Does anybody know if BMW would replace the driver's seat cover simply due to wear?

depends on your relationship with the dealer, this is where your customer feedback comes in, if you always rate them 5 on all their reports, but you let them know where they could improve(without stepping over your mouth) the service manager has the authorization to do so. if you have no history with them or constantly rate them poor, then i'd guess you would be sucking on a lemon. But as far as wear is concerned, anything after 25k miles is considered wear and tear and not covered under warranty dependent on the dealer.
