Kind of off topic but it looks like your X5 is lacking the automatic light position, I thought all X5's (Especially 4.4 and 4.8) came standard with automatic light sensors.

no bmws came with automatic lamps until 2002. in america it was still an option on 2002 525's every other model came with them standard. this x5 is a 2001 or earlier
