something weird

hi all....saw something strange yesterday while driving...it has to do with a 3 series, i know wrong forum but anyway...the car had german plates with florida plates over the eu plates and the series designation on the trunk had 350 ci with the M logo on top..i have never seen this before...i even followed the car for a few minutes to make sure it said 350 and not 330...was this a choice in europe...unless the guy changed the numbers...it was a U.S spec car because it had the third brake light...just curious...thanks rob
