Question Stereo guru's help!!

I recent purchased a Avic-F700BT for my X. I went to put it in yesterday with the help of a buddy. We did not have much luck. Does anybody know how we can put a new head unit in and still use the stock amplifier? We figured out that my stock unit is just a controller and everything is in the rear. I really want to utilize the factory amp since all the crossovers for the speakers are built in. It has factory nav, DSP, and a cassette player in front, so there has to be line level signal going to the rear to the amp, but does anyone know which colored wires they are? Or does anybody, I mean anybody, make a wiring harness for these vehicles? Or are we going to have to splice into the wires that we need? We were able to get the unit powered up but we could not figure out what line level wires to use, if anyone can shed some light on this that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet would be to remove (and sell) the dsp amp and add your own amp and crossover. If by chance you find the avenue to splice into the BMW amp, sound quality is not guaranteed to be too great.

I was hoping to not have to go to that extent, but I may have to. Thanks for the reply Robert.

If you know how to read and navigate the schematics then yes it should. I used the same system straight through the BMW website (with my login info) to do the sound on my E36 and E53.

Look at my install thread. I just finished installing an avic-z110bt. PM me if you have any quastions. I used an aftermarket amp and crossovers from the component speakers.

I also had the same OEM nav with tape deck. Mounting brackets you can get from Home depot. Thanks.

Thanks, I will look at it and let you know if I have any questions. I did look at the first couple of pics and I did notice that my dash is different than yours where the radio attaches.
