Hi all!

Hey whats up everyone, I just signed up here and I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brendan and I have a black on black 2001 X5 3.0.

I love mods, and my current customizations include:

6k HID Fogs and Headlights
Gloss Black Grill
Debadged

ha its not much but I have many ideas in the works! Next up in order is..

Magnaflow mufflers--either #14815 or #14816
35% Tint
running boards
22" reps, spacers, springs

I just have a couple questions..

What magnaflow do you guys prefer? I know they will sound similiar, but the tips are slightly different.

Where can I get 22" BMW reps?

Thanks, I will post pics soon

welcome to Xoutpost!

I went with magnaflow part #10415 and I'm loving the sound. I got custom tail pipes from magnaflow (which are now for sale on the for sale section of this forum) because i switched to 4.6 tips.
You can hear how they sound here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...st-system.html

You can get 22 BMW reps from eBay or lake shore wheel:Wheels for BMW X5 on Special! Wheels X5,rims X5,chrome Wheels X5, wheels, rims bmw

welcome! I hope you have fun with your X5!

2 things..., as a 2001 x5 owner, I can tell you trying to upgrade the electronics is going to be your biggest "A-A-A-R-R-G-H!!!!" factor, as the plugs are round pin while all "new" electronics are flat pin. Next, when your water pump is replaced, be sure to install the aftermarket Stewart water pump, as the OEM pumps have plastic impeller blades. Go with the stainless steel Stewart and never have to change it again. The OEMs tend to last 60-80,000 miles (some more, some LESS), so it's best to figure changing it as part of preventative maintenance vs waiting for it to break (some have lost the engine also)

look forward to reading about your mods. take pics!

Absolutely not true. No x5 has ever come with plastic impeller. Use only oem for water pump replacement. They come with a lifetime warranty.

Glad you are here, Walkingcloud.

Take some time to browse and search the forums for some great info on exhaust, wheels, running boards, and a ton of other things. There is a wealth of knowledge here.

please check other threads on water pumps - the OEM water pump DOES have a plastic impeller blade and it sure does not have a lifetime warranty. Only a lawyer can give you a lifetime warranty, otherwise you can sue.

BMW Value Protection Program, look it up. other parts that have lifetime warranty on them are mufflers, starters, alternators, shocks,

and the last time bmw used a plastic impeller was the M52 engines. M52tu/M54 engines come with either Metal or Composite impellers.

out of the hundreds of water pumps ive replaced, the last time i saw an OE one that was plastic was on MY98 and before.
