Roadside Assistance

My 4yr/50k roadside assistance is about to expire. Is there any benefit to renewing this with BMW or will my existing AAA suffice? Is there any special reason to stick with the BMW roadside assistance? Thanks all.

The only benefit that I see with BMW roadside assistance is that they will tow you to the closest BMW dealership free of charge regardless how far that "closest" BMW dealer happens to be. With AAA, the "free" towing is limited to 7 or 10 miles - can't recalled off the top of my head.

I don't think it's worth it. I renewed it initially, but decided that it's not worth it as I never used it for anything. They'll try to talk you into keeping it, saying that it's like insurance; hopefully you won't have to use it, but if you ever get into an accident, they'll automatically locate where you're at and contact the paramedics for you (this is why I initially renewed it). Also, if your X5 is stolen, they can help locate it. I don't care about that b/c if my car is stolen, I probably don't want it back as it will most likely be messed up by the thieves. If you have AAA, the basic membership is limited to 7 miles, but the Plus membership gives you 4 free tows up to 100 miles each and I think the Premier gives you 4 tows up to 200 miles each. Don't remember how much the Premier is, but the Plus is about $70, which is a lot less than the $200 BMW Assist yearly membership.

After recently being charged 75 bucks for use of dollies because could not get E70 into neutral because T-handle could not be accessed, I'd question paying anything for BMW assist.

They said they only paid for roadside assists, but dollies would have been required anyway, since X5 was locked in park.

And they stoopdly called for service from town 60 miles north of nearest dealership, when they could have gotten tow truck from dealer's town/area.

AAA makes more sense after expiration of BMW Assist as X5GuyinLA said.

BMW assist was the "WORST" service I have ever had period.
I wouldn't take it if it was free. AAA has Up to 200 miles towing
for Premier members which is what I have. It's about $110.00 a year
and has many other perks including DMV registration.
