Crackling Front Speakers

Driving with the radio at a loud volume, all heck broke loose and both of the A-Pillar fronts started crackling like crazy. I turned down the radio, changed song, went to FM....and the crackling went away.

This has happened a second time now (radio definitely not as loud). I'm more concerned that the amp (non-dsp) crapped out and it's actually not the speakers that are blown.

Anyone experience this? I've read people have had the crackling, but that seemed to always coincide with the radio cutting in and out.
